DirectLaw Legal Document Workflows

DirectLaw Workflows

DirectLaw document automation supports multiple workflows that enable you to optimize efficiency and client experience.

Standard Document Workflow

In the standard document workflow a client goes to the firm’s website and starts the process on their own:

  • Client registers at the firm’s DirectLaw client portal.
  • Client purchases a legal document. At this point the client will accept a limited retainer agreement.
  • Client answers a questionnaire.
  • Our software generates the document based on the client answers.
  • Attorney reviews the questionnaire and the generated document.
  • Attorney makes any necessary changes.
  • Attorney uploads completed document to the client’s account.

Internal Document Workflow

DirectLaw can also be used for in office clients or when speaking to clients over the telephone:

  • Attorney adds client to the client database.
  • Attorney adds a document to the client’s account.
  • Attorney enters client data into a questionnaire.
  • Our software generates the document based on the answers.
  • Attorney reviews the questionnaire and the generated document.
  • Attorney makes any necessary changes.
  • Attorney uploads completed document to the client’s account or delivers it outside of the DirectLaw platform.

Hybrid Document Workflow

DirectLaw also allows an attorney to set up a client account and add a document but have the client answer the questionnaire:

  • Attorney adds client to the client database and opts to have DirectLaw send the client their login details.
  • Attorney adds a document to the client’s account.
    • Document can be “unpurchased” which means the client would have to purchase it before they can submit it to the firm for preparation
    • Document can be “purchased” which means that the client can submit it to the firm without having to pay anymore. This is useful if the client has already paid for the service or have a legal insurance plan.
  • Client answers a questionnaire.
  • Our software generates the document based on the client answers.
  • Attorney reviews the questionnaire and the generated document.
  • Attorney makes any necessary changes.
  • Attorney uploads completed document to the client’s account.
